On Tuesday, May 27, the pop star took to Instagram to reveal what’s to come from her upcoming visual album, Something Beautiful.
In a behind-the-scenes video, Cyrus tried out the looks that will be featured in the album’s eponymous short film. The “Flowers” singer donned a revealing outfit that put her entire derriere on display. The outfit consisted of a pair of teal fringed sequined leather pants and a pair of simple black leather hot pants.
Cyrus paired the butt-baring pants with a bra made entirely of turquoise. The bra featured clusters of turquoise to cover her bust, while gemstones dangling from the cups added a touch of interest.
The 32-year-old couldn’t help but rave about her stunning outfit. “This is so dreamy,” she said in the video before getting ready for a little dance with a big smile on her face.
“Easy Lover is releasing their album Something Beautiful on May 30th,” she captioned the video.
Cyrus’s chaps look is a fashion classic. The look comes from the archives of Thierry Mugler’s Spring 1992 ready-to-wear collection, which was shown in 1991, so it’s older than Cyrus.
On the runway, model Yasmeel Ghauri wore the same look as in Cyrus’ video, but with a slight twist.
Ghauri’s version was paired with a pair of high-waisted black briefs. Ghauri’s runway look wasn’t just a bra, but was paired with a loose black jacket with studded satin lapels and cufflinks, and a pair of shiny black leather gloves.
Cyrus and her stylist Bradley Kenneth teamed up to draw inspiration from fashion history for the Something Beautiful album.
Kenneth told Vogue in March that In addition to a number of Mugler looks, the album also includes pieces from designers such as Bob Mackie and Jean Paul Gaultier.
“We invited designers who have been involved in Miley’s fashion story over the decade she has worked closely with her,” he said. “Whether it’s Mackie’s theatricality or Mugler’s powerful silhouettes, those influences have always been there and have only evolved with her.”
“We actually hold the record for the largest collection of Mugler archives ever sent to an individual, which is still incredible,” added Kenneth.
