Chanel’s Atelier Beauté Chanel has permanently closed six years after opening in New York’s SoHo neighborhood.
The store, which opened in January 2019, was a unique format for the brand, offering beauty samples, makeup services, and skincare and fragrance consultations.
Atelier reportedly closed earlier this year, with influencers and beauty consumers taking to social media to express their condolences over the closure. Influencer Gurleen Kaur posted a post on TikTok in January 2025, alerting users to the exact closing date of January 18, 2025, encouraging people to experience it before it closes.
A Chanel representative did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation. The brand reportedly plans to integrate “innovative practices” into its existing fragrance and beauty boutiques.
A beauty boutique in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and its Maison de Beauté in Paris remain open, according to store locators. The latter is listed as “Chanel Perfumes & Beauty Boutique Passy,” the same name as Chanel’s standard beauty boutiques.
