Amid a rainy April in New York City, Van Cleef & Arpels brought May flowers to the Big Apple on Saturday with its “Spring Blossoms” exhibition at Rockefeller Center.
From May 3 to May 18, visitors to New York City can experience the Midtown landmark as if they were in a blooming French garden, complete with vibrant floral illustrations by French artist Alexandre Benjamin Navet. This is Navet’s fourth collaboration with the French brand.
“I spent months studying these structures while conceiving new perspectives and surprising, charming details interwoven into the public space, with references to the French countryside, of course,” the multimedia artist said in a press release.
Navet’s designs are known for their sketchy textures that extend to tree branches and include birds and other natural motifs. The spring installation complements the floral décor at Van Cleef & Arpels’ flagship store on 57th Street and its new Upper East Side store.
As in previous years, Van Cleef & Arpels has partnered with several institutions to offer live events over the weekend, including the New York Academy of Art, the Guggenheim Museum in New York (in partnership with the Academy of American Poets), and the Paris School of Jewelry Arts (L’Ecole).
The New York Academy of Art and the Guggenheim Museum in New York will host the first two events on Saturday. There will also be children’s storybook readings and contemporary dance performances, and more events will be announced in the coming days.
The French brand previously installed floral installations along Fifth Avenue between 2022 and 2024, two of which were designed by Navet. The latest floral installation adds a touch of joy and brilliance to the area, attracting many tourists and shopping enthusiasts.
