Kristen Stewart may be following the new dress code at the Cannes Film Festival, but she’s doing it in her own unique way!
The 35-year-old actress hit the red carpet at the premiere of Water Chronology at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in a look that was both stylish and effortless.
Stewart wore an all-white Chanel ensemble consisting of a fitted white jacket, a pair of shorts, a sheer white shirt, and a small black tie. The Twilight star also boldly broke the festival’s no-nudity policy by leaving a few buttons undone for an extra dose of sexiness. (The festival’s official FAQ website states: “For ‘property reasons,’ nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival.”)
Instead of breaking the dress code on the red carpet, Stewart chose to let her brand new leg tattoo steal the show. The shorts highlighted the tattoo, which reads “MINE” in block letters just above the knee.
On the set of her directorial debut, Chronology of Water, which premiered in Cannes on May 16, shot in partnership with Vulture Films, Stewart revealed that the rest of the film’s crew will also be getting an identical “MINE” tattoo and shared its NSFW (Not Suitable for Work) meaning.
“The coolest song in the movie is when she puts cum on her hand, smells it, and rubs it on her bicep and says, ‘I didn’t know a girl’s body could do that. Cum.’ And then the song comes on and goes, ‘Mine, mine, mine, mine.’ It’s totally mine,” she revealed.
This new tattoo wasn’t the only one Stewart showed off during her time in Cannes — the actress attended a photocall for Chronology of Water and debuted ombre pink tips in her hair to match her Chanel outfit.
Imogen Poots, Thora Birch, Earl Cave, Michael Epp, Susanna Flood, Kim Gordon, Jim Belushi, Julian Resto and Tom Sturridge all star in the film and attended the photocall.
Ahead of the premiere, Stewart told The Hollywood Reporter that she wanted the film to be “blockbuster, but in a way that feels right.”
“You can’t say it any better. We barely finished the film. It’s not even finished yet,” Stewart added. “I have to go home and wait another two weeks to get the color and sound done. This is my first fucking draft.”
