June has become an iconic symbol of Pride around the world. Many may wonder why the rainbow flag is associated with the LGBTQIA+ community. Alternative artist Gilbert Baker even believes that the LGBTQIA+ community should have their own flag.
When defining a symbol, Baker chose the rainbow because it is so all-encompassing. The bright and diverse colors of the rainbow were inspired by Judy Garland’s song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, which is loved and admired by many LGBTQIA+ artists.
In the spirit of the rainbow, many beauty brands have launched new products before the end of the month. Consider this a guide to your Pride-themed beauty products.
