Dior unveils a new high jewellery collection adorned with over a hundred precious gemstones. Inspired by the world’s most breathtaking natural landscapes, Dior Jewellery Artistic Director Victoire de Castellane artfully combines metals with brilliant gemstones to interpret floral motifs.
Castellane divides Dior’s rich heritage into three pillars: enchanting natural landscapes, exquisite bouquets and magnificent celebrations. The Maison’s reverence for organic life meets the richness of festive celebrations, with gemstones set on gleaming metals to depict stunning scenes. High-volume pieces are embellished with narrative elements, and the designs showcase a series of backgrounds and florals.
The rhythmic motifs of the seasons run throughout the collection. Sparkling icy pieces evoke the scent of winter, floral gemstones bring out the fragrance of spring, and rainbow gemstones sparkle with the sunshine of summer. The spring trio, composed of a necklace, ring and earrings, captures the irresistible balance between fantasy and reality.
The atelier’s attention to detail enhances the potential of these rare gemstones, using the “opal double” technique – where opal is layered on top of another gemstone, such as onyx or mother-of-pearl – to recreate complex images of the sea or sky. Victoria de Castellane is known for her extraordinary ability to incorporate complex images and stylistic symbols into her works.
Using a technique known as “openwork”, she gives her surreal visuals by applying clusters of colorful lacquer. By replicating stained glass, she brings together extreme creativity and embellishes the collection with a dreamy baroque craft that highlights the expertise of the artistic director.
