You’ve probably heard about the nude-dressing trend sweeping the red carpet, sweeping premieres and galas, with A-list stars showing off their bodies in see-through or nearly see-through outfits. It certainly takes a certain amount of guts and confidence to pull off the sexy look—but can it also be done in a more demure way? Supermodel Kaia Gerber thinks the answer is yes. The success rate depends on how you pair it.
Last night, Gerber attended the premiere of Benito Skinner’s new drama Overcompensating (she also stars in an episode of the new Amazon Prime show). Her Victoria Beckham-esque look was a perfect and subtle nod to nude dressing: Gerber wore a loose blazer and mini dress, paired with a pair of see-through thigh-high socks.
Of course, this stocking look is usually reserved for lingerie or boudoir occasions, but Gerber made it look more red carpet-friendly with a loose, peak-shoulder jacket and pointy-toe Jimmy Choo heels. (Skinner’s custom ERL pieces are also great.)
Back to Gerber: The stockings the model was showing had a nude vibe to them—lingerie as the main attraction!—but the look was still elegant and timeless.
