Pamela Anderson finds beauty in simplicity. “I wake up really early,” the actress and activist tells People, who lives in her renovated childhood home on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. “I’ll write until the sun comes up.
Once the sun comes up, I go for a walk or spend time with my dog… I’m so busy with work right now, so that me-time is so precious.”
Anderson’s current work encompasses everything from skincare brand Sonsie. The cruelty-free and vegan brand launches in summer 2023, and Anderson announced she was joining the brand in January 2024.
Sonsie is a natural fit for Anderson, who publicly announced her no-makeup lifestyle at the Vivienne Westwood show during Paris Fashion Week in 2023.
Behind the scenes, however, the star is working with co-founder Marie von Behrens-Felipe on the brand’s future. “I’m at a point in my life where it makes sense to make my own brand mark in this industry,” she says, “to redefine not only beauty but what beauty means, and do it with a sense of heart and not over-promise.”
After months of sell-outs and growing waitlists, Sonsie’s entire line is back—and better than ever. The cult-favorite Basic Balm—which fans couldn’t get their hands on for six months—has been updated with a peptide-powered formula that includes 1% Hydrating Peptide Complex and 25% Bio-based Squalane.
“My lips feel more moisturized,” Anderson says of the updated formula. “I travel so much and my lips tend to dry out, so I’m always reapplying lip balm. But with [this formula], the lip balm lasts longer, which is really nice. I don’t have to apply as much.”
Sonsie also relaunched its Multi-Action Moisturizer (formerly known as the Multi-Action Moisturizing Mask) to highlight its versatility. The cream contains 12% glycerin and 0.5% hyaluronic acid and can be used as a traditional facial moisturizer, body lotion, nighttime mask, or daytime hydration mask.
“I put it on my hands, feet, and elbows,” Anderson said. “People all over the community have been telling me that it’s so much more than a mask. For me, I’m always on a plane, always traveling, and it’s something I can’t live without.”
The Sonsie line includes Cleansing Mousse, a gentle foaming cleanser that originally launched in September 2024, and Super Serum, a lightweight serum with niacinamide and mountain pepper extract.
“I feel like my beauty routine has been getting simpler and simpler,” Anderson recalled. “It’s just spending time in the garden, reading a book, taking a walk in nature. Sonsie is simple, too, just cleanser, serum, moisturizer, and then a lip balm.” “
That’s all I use,” the star added. “Whether it’s on the red carpet, on the cover of a magazine, or in the garden. That’s what’s really fun, testing the waters not only in my own life but in this industry.”
Anderson clarified that she’s “not anti-makeup.”
“I love gorgeous colors,” she said. “I love all of that. I love creating a character in a movie or a play. And [Sonsie] is great for makeup. It’s a great base.”
The actress previously told People that she’s getting acclaim for her makeup look as a Las Vegas showgirl in the 2024 film The Last Showgirls. In 2022, she made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago.
This summer, she’ll star in a revival of Tennessee Williams’ Camino Real at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
The impact of Anderson’s makeup-free campaign isn’t lost on her.
“I have people coming up to me every day, whether it’s at the grocery store, at the beach, or when I’m taking a walk,” she says. “They’re like, ‘Thank you so much for doing this.’ It resonates with a lot of people.”
The brand’s motto is that “beauty is the freedom to be yourself” — a sentiment that echoes Anderson’s sentiments perfectly.
“I feel like sometimes we have to come back to ourselves and strip everything down to remember who we are, what our original ideas were, what our dreams and aspirations were. So it’s all part of life, coming back to yourself, and being in your beauty journey wherever you are,” she says.
