Augustinus Bader is eyeing product expansion. On Wednesday morning, the luxury skincare brand launched its first-ever sunscreen.
Enriched with a variety of skin-benefitting ingredients, the mineral sunscreen SPF 50 is designed to provide skincare benefits beyond sun protection. Its formula includes the brand’s proprietary TCF8 complex to promote skin renewal; microalgae extract to reduce fine lines; and cottonseed extract, which, according to a brand press release, is designed to protect skin from premature aging caused by the sun. The new product retails for $140 for a 30 ml bottle and is available on the brand’s website.
The new Augustinus Bader sunscreen uses non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as UV filters and is designed to be used as the last step in any skincare routine. Apply Augustinus Bader Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 after applying at least one layer of serum and moisturizer. All sunscreen products are recommended to be applied with a generous amount of sunscreen 15 minutes before sun exposure.
Some skincare enthusiasts may prefer mineral sunscreens over chemical ones because they believe they are better suited for sensitive and acne-prone skin. However, it’s important to note that mineral sunscreens are known for leaving some white marks, which is almost inevitable (unless the formula is tinted). Augustinus Bader’s sunscreen leaves very little residue.
The eponymous brand was founded in 2018 by Augustinus Bader, MD, PhD. Since its launch in 2025, the brand has been committed to launching new products. For example, in February of this year, the brand launched a face mask and hairbrush in collaboration with La Bonne Brosse. With the launch of its first sunscreen, Augustinus Bader continues to expand its luxury skincare range.
