The second chapter of the 2025 autumn and winter women’s wear series, created by Nadège Vanhée, the artistic director of Hermès women’s wear, was recently unveiled in Shanghai’s North Bank Binhai.
This season’s works once again focus on the in-depth dialogue between natural and man-made elements, deeply interpreting the close connection between fashion and humanity, and presenting a unique artistic aesthetic against the backdrop of the futuristic Shanghai skyline.
The show was held in a temporary modular building built specifically for the event. The flexible changes in the spatial structure brought a rhythmic visual rhythm to the entire release.
The prosperous scenery along the Huangpu River and Shanghai’s unique urban temperament together become the perfect stage for this series of clothing, cleverly reflecting the design concept of this season to explore the balance and integration between the city and nature.
The series of works continue the brand’s consistent deep meaning, blurring the boundaries between exquisiteness and practicality, achieving a new balance between tradition and modernity, function and aesthetics, and creating a neat and practical new outline language.
“Weaving” is the core of the design of this series. It not only symbolizes the profound brand genes of Hermès, but also implies the connection and inheritance between cross-cultures.
This inspiration comes from the weaving skills of the equestrian world and the asymmetrical totem on the Dressage Tressage scarf designed by Virginie Jamin, which is reborn after innovative interpretation.
The designer interweaves structure, function, color and printing to create a unique and harmonious visual hierarchy. At the same time, the modular structure enhances the diverse wearing possibilities of clothing. The wearer can freely change the shape by folding, rotating, zipping, etc. to adapt to different occasions and needs.
“Equestrian blanket” has also become one of the key design inspirations. It is cleverly used in shawl sweaters and flowing coats, and is modernly interpreted with the help of double-faced cashmere material.
Some items are designed with removable linings, made of the fabric of Dressage Tressage scarves, so that the wearer can flexibly adjust according to the climate and occasion.
There are also clever attempts to combine traditional classic styles with outdoor sports elements, highlighting functional aesthetics in details, such as the neckline knot design, quilted leather decoration, etc., inspired by the texture structure of chairs in French bistros, showing the exquisite craftsmanship and aesthetic cultivation that Hermès has always pursued.
In terms of color, this series is also drawn from natural landscapes and equestrian culture. The main color is based on earth tones, matched with bright red and burnt orange, and cleverly integrated with soft colors such as lilac purple, terracotta white and ink blue, with clear layers, showing a rich and tense visual language.
