Timberland has a new vice president of global product design and creative direction, with the VF Corp-owned brand appointing former Dr Martens creative director Darren Mckoy to the position.
Mckoy returns to VF after serving as product manager for The North Face’s EMEA region from December 2010 to February 2012.
The move comes just months after McCoy left the heritage-meets-fashion British footwear brand in January after three years as creative director. However, he has held a number of different roles at the company since joining VF in 2015.
Prior to Dr Martens, he also held positions at adidas, Mamas & Papas, Asics and the aforementioned The North Face, another VF Corp-owned brand.
Mckoy said on LinkedIn that he has “been fortunate to work with heritage brands, shape stories, build products and work with teams that are committed to connecting brands, consumers and culture with purpose. I’m excited to bring my experience and learnings to Timberland and contribute to future growth.”
While Timberland offers a full product line covering apparel and accessories, it is best known for its famous boots, so in that respect, Mckoy will be working in a similar product category after Dr Martens.
He is not the only creative appointment Timberland has made this year. In February, the company announced the appointment of Drew Villani as global creative director and marketing director.
He previously worked at Calvin Klein, where he was responsible for bringing the brand’s creative vision to life in all aspects of brand marketing.
