Bella Hadid’s Orebella: My Real Thoughts

by Tina

When I think of Bella Hadid, I think of her glowing skin and her ever-perfect tea-colored smoky eyes. But I rarely think of fragrance right away. So when she announced her own line of fragrances, Orebella (pronounced aura-bella), I was surprised, but I shouldn’t have been.

Hadid calls the brand “the skin-ification of perfume,” and says she wanted it because of her own skin sensitivity to typical alcohol-based fragrances. It’s not a topic that’s often mentioned, so I was intrigued. If that wasn’t enough to make her model’s mark on the brand, the geode-shaped bottles were inspired by her mother’s vintage perfume cabinet.

While stylish, I must admit that I was a little annoyed that they only lay flat, taking up a lot of space in my squeezed storage system, but they certainly look beautiful, and there’s the option to purchase a stand (at an additional cost).

All four scents are vegan, alcohol-free, and bi-phased, with two layers: one is the brand’s unique nourishing base layer, blended with moisturizing oils to hydrate the skin and keep the scent lasting. The second layer is enriched with aromatherapy oils, designed to refresh and revitalize.

Although they claim to be traceless, they are actually oily, so I chose to spray them on my skin without wearing any clothes. Remember to shake well before spraying.

Each one is unique and different from the other products in the same series, creating a different atmosphere and mood. To celebrate Orebella’s launch in Selfridges in the UK, I tried every fragrance from the brand.

Orebella Blooming Flame

This sunny fragrance is described as a warm, sunny scent with the fragrance of Tahitian monoi flowers, patchouli and bergamot. It has a retro vibe and is similar to the popular skincare fragrances of the moment, but with a stronger floral scent. As someone who doesn’t like florals, this isn’t usually my cup of tea, but I can see myself reaching for it in the summer – it’s like a holiday in a bottle.

Orebella Salted Muse Skincare Perfume

Salted Muse is hands down my favourite. This refreshing, woody marine fragrance combines notes of sea salt, pink peppercorns, olive tree accords, fig and lavender, and is a crowd favourite. It smells like surfing in the Cornish countryside – salty air mingling with fresh grass – and once applied, a warm oak note settles in.

Orebella Nightcap Skin Parfum

Like the name suggests, the fragrance is boozy, almost rum-like, thanks to the warming notes of cardamom and a hint of spicy ginger. It smells almost fizzy when you spray it on – like a glass of bubbly ginger ale, or a fresh Coca-Cola opened on the beach – but the vanilla and sandalwood leave a comforting scent on the skin. It’s unlike anything I’ve smelled before and I couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist.

Orebella Window2Soul Skin Parfum

The brand calls the fragrance a pure floral, combining notes of rose, jasmine and geranium. It’s also blended with mint and tangy lemon for an added freshness. It smells like a mature floral with a hint of orange blossom, so it’s a little green and bitter than other perfumes I’ve smelled.
