Miu Miu Brings ‘Tales & Tellers’ Fashion and Film Show to New York

by Tina

Miu Miu’s multidisciplinary project Tales & Tellers arrives in New York this weekend, transforming Manhattan’s Terminal Warehouse into a hyper-realistic, immersive space that blurs the lines between art, fashion and performance. Originally conceived by artist Goshka Macuga and curated by MACBA director Elvira Dyangani Ose, the installation continues Miuccia Prada’s long-standing commitment to spotlighting female creatives through the brand’s “Female Tales” film series and art runway presentations.

Debuting in Paris in October 2024, the installation draws inspiration from Miu Miu’s creative archive – including interventions from seven fashion shows and all 29 short films from the “Female Tales” series since 2011. Each character in these works is re-enacted through live performances by actors and accompanied by video projections of the original works. The result is a layered, evolving narrative that reinterprets notions of femininity through movement, sound and space.

While the Paris premiere evokes a classical public square, the New York staging is more inclined to capture the energy of a city street after dark. Set against a moody backdrop, the Terminal Warehouse installation invites viewers to reflect on their understanding of public space, privacy and identity.

Open to the public on May 10 and 11, Tales & Tellers pays homage to Miu Miu’s creative history and its commitment to telling women’s stories.
