Gap is entering a new era of its classic American style with the official opening of GapStudio in stores. GapStudio is a high-fashion initiative that debuts with Collection 01, designed by Zac Posen (who has already won over red carpet stars including Cynthia Erivo and Cara Delevingne).
As of February 2024, Zac Posen has served as Gap’s executive vice president and creative director. Developed within the brand’s New York headquarters, GapStudio sets the tone for the cult brand’s new direction, offering a more upscale, design-focused collection.
Collection 01 offers a sophisticated take on wardrobe staples, combining premium fabrics with Posen’s signature attention to detail while keeping prices accessible. From tailoring to sculptural denim, the pieces showcase a modern take on Gap’s classic American aesthetic.
Highlights include a denim fitted trench coat ($248) and a double-breasted denim blazer ($178). The previously sold-out popular poplin long shirtdress ($158) is now available in two new colorways.
“GapStudio is a place where craft, creativity and culture meet,” Posen said in a statement about the event. “This collection embodies that vision—melding tailoring with innovative denim treatments to shape and refine the fabric in new ways.”
GapStudio Collection 01, priced between $78 and $248, will be available globally on gap.com and in 10 select U.S. stores on April 3.
To celebrate the brand’s debut, the brand released a campaign shot and directed by Italian-American photographer Mario Sorrenti. Alastair McKimm served as stylist, with models Alex Consani, Imaan Hammam and Anok Yai leading the way with visuals.
“GapStudio creates both accessible and coveted retail collections as well as one-of-a-kind, exclusive designs that celebrate self-expression and solidify Gap’s place in culture,” CEO Marc Breitbard added in the statement.
