A new brand has officially arrived. Ossou, a ready-to-wear label for women that focuses on careful design and construction, released its first collection today.
Ossou was founded by creative directors Nina Khosla (formerly of Fforme) and Talia Shuvalov, who previously worked at Alexander Wang and Narciso Rodriguez and owns her own fine jewelry line, Erede.
Ossou’s name is derived from the word for “bone,” an apt metaphor for the brand’s radical approach to dressing. Rather than chasing trends, Ossou rethinks classic pieces to create sophisticated wardrobe pieces that are timeless. Think: softly shaped leather shirts, waist-cinching jackets, and shirts with cutout seams that feel more couture than casual.
At the heart of the collection is denim—but not the kind you’re used to. Khosla was inspired by growing up in San Francisco, the birthplace of jeans, to reimagine denim as a luxurious fabric. The result is a collection of jeans crafted in Los Angeles from Japanese fabrics using techniques inspired by traditional indigo techniques.
The washes are earthy and simple, designed to age gracefully. Even the hardware is custom—they feature a sophisticated mix of metal uppers and zipper pulls, created in collaboration with industrial designer David Caon.
The collection includes knitwear, shirting, soft leather separates, and outerwear, creating a sense of quiet, homely luxury.
Ossou is available now, with prices ranging from $295 to $1,295.
